Venus la Universal
Venus La Universal is born from a shared life. From a story that began long before it had a name, when Sara Pérez and René Barbier walked the same landscape—each from their own home, from their own heritage—and we understood that wine was not just a profession, but a way of being in the world.
We come from two roots. Sara, from Mas Martinet. René, from Clos Mogador. Two families who have experienced the vineyard as a place of constant learning, rather than a repeated recipe. Over the years, this way of looking at the land gradually became a language of its own: listening, observing, making mistakes, starting over… and continuing.
From there, everything began to take shape: the work, the home, the rhythm of the seasons. And also the family. Ari, René, Leo, and Gaia, our children, are part of this story, because this project is not built only in the winery, but in daily life, in the environment we inhabit, at the shared table, in the landscape that accompanies us.

Montsant
We are in Montsant, in this corner of southern Catalonia where the mountain protects, the wind cleanses, and the light changes every day. Here the vineyard forces us to be honest. And the wine, to be faithful.
We do not seek to dominate nature: we seek to understand it. Because balance is not decided: it is learned. And we learn it with all six senses.
Every vintage reminds us of it. The imbalances that conventional work used to hide appear when you decide to walk with the land and not against it. We have lost grapes, we have lost time, we have lost certainties… but we have gained something else: the feeling that everything is breathing again.
And as long as this restoration lasts—this search for organic, living, imperfect laws—we will continue to add people, ideas, paths, and questions. And we will try to transform it into wine.
The team
Venus La Universal is not just a place where wine is made. It is a way of living everything: time, the land, the work, and the people. And for that reason, although the project was born from us—Sara and René—it has been walking accompanied for years.
Field
In the field, we care for more than 10 hectares of our own under an agroecological perspective, seeking for the vineyard to produce not “more”, but “better”. There, Roger, Milo, Pedro, and Marc follow the pulse of each plot, interpreting the drought, the wind, the plant cover, the rhythms of each plant… and sustaining that which is not seen when the wine reaches a glass.
Winegrowers
But Venus cannot be understood only through the land we work directly. It is also built with the winegrowers we have walked with for years: people who know every dry-stone wall, every stone, every vine, and who have cared for their vineyards with a patience that cannot be improvised. With them, we share a way of doing things based on respect, trust, and continuity.
Winery
In the winery, we work from a place of respect and listening. Here the wine is not forced: it is accompanied. Marc Borja and Andreu Bonfill are there day after day with the fermentations, the aging, the rackings, and the necessary silences, with René very close to the process, attentive and patient, because each tank also has character, and each vintage carries its own truth.
Beyond wine
And all around—quietly but sustaining everything—exists this essential part that allows the project to breathe and reach far.
Montse Domenech, taking care of the numbers with calm and precision.
Maria Arenas, shaping our presence and our narrative as head of digital marketing.
Roger Valls, managing the commercial side and ensuring our wines find their way and hands where they make sense.
And Gemma Marco, who accompanies the visits and the way we open Venus to the world, so that whoever comes can understand that here we don’t just show wine: we show landscape, time, and a way of life. Because Venus is also that: a balance between the intimate and the universal.
